Canon Point: Season 1, Episode 39: Infestation, after entering Artifact Storage and finding the Web Table but before being taken by NotSasha.
In-Game Tattoo Placement: A set of antlers wrapping around her right arm, the points twisting and spiraling at odd angles, in the direction of the small scar on her shoulder. A few of the points have shaped themselves into stylized eyes.

Content Warnings: The Magnus Archives is a horror canon that deals with a multitude of potentially upsetting subject matter. A subjective list can be found here. Sasha’s personal history deals with relatively few of these themes, aside from some violence, experiences with unreality and infestation of human bodies.
History: ”All you know is what your brain does to justify what you do. It’s no more reason than the face you put on for Jon. The only real you is the actions you take.”
CRAU History and Impact: N/A
Personality: It’s been said that Sasha James was the “final pillar of normalcy” in The Magnus Archives and that is debatably true. She’s intelligent, resourceful, down to earth and quick-thinking. She gets along with her co-workers, even the prickly Jonathan Sims. Of the original three Archive assistants Sasha is the one with academic knowledge and training to be there with ten years of academia under her belt and several years in different departments inside the Magnus Institute itself. At one point she was even intended to be hired as the new Archivist after the disappearance of the last one although the job ended up going to the notably less qualified Jon.
Overall Sasha is a sensible, down to earth sort of person. She believes in the supernatural but tries to temper it with a healthy skepticism, trying not to jump to paranormal conclusions until the rational answers have been ruled out. She was disappointed in losing out on the Archivist position and says as much to Tim but she chooses not to hold a grudge against Jon or their boss Elias who made the decision. It did make her consider leaving but ultimately she decided to stay because of her relationships and her love of the work she did.
Sasha doesn’t consider herself a brave person. She doesn’t like horror media and avoids roller coasters but when actual danger happens around her she’s the first to react. She notices an odd man through a window who looks like he’s in a funhouse mirror a few times and what does she do? She confronts him in a coffee shop that was supposed to be closed and asks him what he is because she knows it’s not human. When Michael tells her co-workers lives are on the line and offers to be her friends, she decides it’s worth the risk to meet him where he asked her to. And when she’s attacked at that meeting by something made of the same silver worms that have been stalking the Institute she’s quick thinking enough to grab a nearby fire extinguisher and suffocate them with the CO2. Later on, when the Institute is actually attacked by the worms and Jane Prentiss, she risks her own safety to rush from the archives’ safe room to push Tim out of the way of an impending worm attack.
Sasha’s best and worst trait is without a doubt her curiosity. On the good front it makes her a highly effective archival researcher. She’s extremely thorough in tracking down leads about past statements (police reports, examining video footage, finding pieces of evidence mentioned in the statements, checking maps). She offered to re-interview several statement givers and, having transferred from the research department, would have had that already in her job description. She likes to watch people through the slightly warped glass of her building and she’s exceptionally good at picking up small details some people wouldn’t notice even in the heat of the moment. She’s an observer, noticing things like how sharp Gertrude Robinson was despite outward appearances and having her own suspicions about Gertrude’s hectic and disorderly filing system.
On the opposite side of the spectrum her curious nature is what put her on the dangerous path toward her death. Her curiosity led her to joining the Institute in the first place. She would often poke around in areas of the Institute’s computer systems she didn’t belong in out of curiosity about her co-workers and discovered Martin’s secret about his faked CV (but chose to keep quiet about it). After the Michael incident she knows she should quit and find a safer job but it’s her curiosity that won’t let her. She wants to know what’s going on in the Institute, she wants to learn more about the interconnecting threads that keep popping up in various otherwise unrelated statements, she wants that knowledge.
In a nutshell, Sasha is a friendly, highly competent and intelligent woman with a mile-wise streak of curiosity. She’s brave without thinking she is, loyal as anything to those she cares about and a thirst for knowledge that can rival the Archivist himself. She has little idea about the eldrich entities that lurk just under the surface of her world or that she’s been unknowingly serving one called the Ceaseless Watcher for the past several years of her life. She just knows there’s something happening and she wants to find out more, even though it will eventually kill and then replace her.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Sasha is a standard quality human being! While she’s had experiences with more than one Entity (the Eye, the Spiral, the Corruption and the Stranger) she has no actual powers related to them.
